Markets / Events

Part of my food philosophy is to get out to the markets to shop.  This can mean going to the Greenmarkets in the city or visiting the special markets set up for a day or even on a monthly basis.  In addition, I enjoy visiting food festivals and various fairs to sample goodies that I might not find elsewhere.  This gives me the chance to taste some great dishes, talk to chefs about their inspirations and their passions, and network with other food-loving folks.  These experiences I try to channel into my own kitchen in developing recipes and experimenting with new dishes.

It's pretty close to impossible to keep track of everything going on in the New York food scene, but I do try to make it to as many events as I can, including some on this list below.  For a weekly newsletter about upcoming NYC food events, I recommend signing on to receive Eater's Digest or looking at the listings on Metromix.  I also follow the events pages in Time Out New York.
